Our Philosophy

At Big Horn Psychological Services, we recognize that people are complex. We've consistently seen that the best treatment outcomes occur when we take the time to understand the individuals we are working with, and the problems they present with from multiple levels. We strongly believe that marriages and families are worth fighting for. We also recognize how daunting it can be to balance the demands of marriage, work, and parenting, so we try to take an approach that is both supportive and realistic given the demands that people are dealing with.

Comprehensive Approach

While diagnoses are useful for treatment planning, our more comprehensive approach involves taking bio-genetic, developmental, cognitive, emotional, personality, experiential, important relationships, and spiritual factors into consideration.

Tailored Treatment

Because no two people are alike, we work to tailor our treatment approach to the individual in a collaborative manner that is oriented toward patient goals. We care about our patients' growth and maturity and try to engage with them around those things that are most meaningful to them.

Individually-Tailored Therapy

We find it is often important, in the context of a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, to help patients identify and begin to address the things that are keeping them from living full and rewarding lives.

Build Healthy Relationships

In marriage and family work, we focus on building healthy relationships. Sometimes that can be as simple as improving communication and learning how to deal with conflict more constructively, but often there are old wounds, problematic behavior, and unhelpful relationship patterns that need to be dealt with and modified.
